CALGARY – The Canadian Immigrant Women's Association (CIWA) is taking applications for its free, full-time digital marketing training program for immigrant women, with the next cohort set to begin July 6, 2026.

The 10-week program runs through September 11, according to CIWA's program page. A second intake is scheduled for January 2027. Spaces are limited, CIWA said in an Instagram post on June 12.

What the program covers

CIWA describes the training as classroom-based instruction covering social media marketing, search engine optimization (SEO), web design, online advertising campaigns, email marketing, graphic design, and data analytics. Participants also work with tools including MS Office, Canva, and Adobe Photoshop.

Canadian workplace culture is part of the curriculum, which CIWA says is designed "to equip immigrant women with in-demand skills in digital marketing."

Who is eligible

To qualify, applicants must be:

  • Permanent residents of Canada

  • Aged 18 or older

  • At Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) 6 to 7

  • Able to commit to 10 weeks of full-time training and to working afterward

Childcare and transit support

CIWA says eligible participants may be reimbursed for childcare and transportation costs during the training. The Instagram post describes this as "childcare and transit support available (conditions apply)," while the program page specifies reimbursement rather than direct provision.

For immigrant women with young children or limited transit access, reimbursement may affect whether full-time training is feasible.

The digital marketing program is one of several employment-focused training streams CIWA currently offers for immigrant women in Calgary. In February 2026, CIWA promoted an Office Skills Training program for STEM professionals, covering professional workplace English, advanced digital skills, and employment networking for women with backgrounds in science, technology, engineering, and math.

Separately, CIWA has advertised a 12-week Digital Transformation Skills program focused on ServiceNow and project management, with intakes running from September 2026 through August 2027. That program is distinct from the digital marketing training and is part of CIWA's job-readiness programming across multiple fields.

CIWA ran the same digital marketing training in 2025, suggesting this is a recurring program rather than a pilot.

How to apply

CIWA lists the following contact for questions and applications:

Full details and application information are on CIWA's program page.

What this means for you

If you're a permanent resident in Calgary with CLB 6 to 7 and you're considering a career shift into digital marketing, the July 6 start date is close. Check your eligibility against the program page criteria before applying, and ask about the reimbursement process for childcare and transit early, since conditions apply.

If you're on a temporary visa, work permit, or study permit, the posted eligibility criteria specify permanent residents. Contact CIWA directly to confirm whether other immigration statuses qualify.

If digital marketing isn't your focus, CIWA's STEM office skills and ServiceNow training programs may be worth exploring through the same organization.
