Trying to fit in can be exhausting
And maybe you shouldn’t bother because you are never going to fully belong to your new country or the old one. I am not sure, but maybe accepting that is the best thing we can do for ourselves. That liminal space is not a problem to solve. It’s an identity that we’ll carry forever.

Financial literacy is one the most pluckily banal topics an immigrant has to understand or learn when they move to Canada. But countless newcomers rise or fall on their ability or inability to understand how credit works in Canada, lower their tax bills where possible, or figure out the right time to set up an RESP.

Paraphrasing
, “These are a broad category of self-censoring ideas that includes things we know we ought to be doing, but keep forgetting to prioritize. How to rebrand your skills for a new market via your cover letter
As immigrants, we all carry unique stories and experiences. But we often hide them in job applications because we think they’re “not professional enough” or “they don’t matter”
Look, your story is your superpower. We often forget that the hiring manager is not only checking off boxes, but they’re looking for someone who’ll ‘fit’ into the team, and you can hardly show that through your resume.
shares five ways to do this. Time to stop thinking your previous experience doesn’t matter. What am I excited about?
That you read this piece down to this point. I really am. I’ve got a ton of great content coming down the pipeline in the coming months. Thanks for all the support, suggestions, responses and all. I appreciate you all.
